The opportunity:

CommBank is one of the leading bank businesses in the world – spanning Australia, New Zealand, Asia, United States and United Kingdom.

Their footprint in Australia is solidified with a major partnership alongside Australia’s national women’s football team, the Matildas. Parramatta’s Western Sydney Stadium is also known as CommBank Stadium, reinforcing their commitment to growing the sport.

Referred to as the CommBank Matildas, it is the pinnacle of where girls aspire to be on the world stage.

We have seen many initiatives come out of the Growing Football Fund, which CommBank supports to bring a coaches hub and community grants.


The project:

The FIFA Women’s World Cup was a monumental tournament for Australia and New Zealand, bringing supporters together and seeing them all cheer their sides on with record-breaking attendances.

Prior to this, CommBank were looking for a way to promote their involvement in the Women’s World Cup, particularly as they sponsor the Matildas who were on home soil.

Ahead of 2023, we collaborated with Dianne Everett who outlined her role as General Manager of Brand & Creative and what we would expect leading in, such as elaborating on the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 Player Escort Programme.

The tournament itself had a huge impact, bringing in more participation numbers than ever before – with figures expected to increase.
